  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg large
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ cup onion finely chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for frying
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoon water to make a slurry
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes optional
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds for garnish
  • 2 green onions sliced for garnish
  • 1 cup cooked rice for serving
  • 1 tablespoon water as needed

  • In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, onion, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  • Form mixture into small meatballs.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook meatballs until browned on all sides and cooked through.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, and chili flakes (if using).
  • Pour sauce into skillet with meatballs and simmer for a few minutes.
  • Add cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce, stirring constantly.
  • Cook until sauce is thick and meatballs are glazed.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
  • Serve hot over cooked rice.

Notes

These meatballs make an excellent appetizer or main dish. You can substitute ground beef with turkey or plant-based meat alternatives!
