Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 4 large tortillas
  • 4 slices cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • ½ cup diced onion
  • ½ cup salsa
  • ½ ripe avocado, sliced (optional) Optional ingredient, can be omitted.

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to incorporate the spices evenly.
  • Preheat the skillet over medium heat. Shape the seasoned meat mixture into 4 equal patties.
  • Cook the patties in the skillet for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Place a slice of cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
  • While the patties are cooking, warm the tortillas in another skillet or microwave until pliable.
  • Assemble the burgers by placing a cooked patty on each tortilla. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomato, diced onion, and avocado slices, as desired.
  • Add a generous spoonful of salsa on top of the fillings.
  • Fold the sides of the tortilla over the filling and then roll it up from the bottom to secure all the ingredients inside.
  • Serve immediately, and enjoy your Tortilla Burger!

Notes

Feel free to customize the toppings with your favorite ingredients, such as jalapeños, sour cream, or olives.
You can also grill the patties for a smoky flavor.
Leftover Tortilla Burgers can be wrapped and stored in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet before serving.
