Equipment

  • 1 large skillet or frying pan
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 wooden spoon or spatula
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 tongs

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion diced (about 1 cup)
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 green onions chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
  • Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. Toss the wings in the flour mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated. Shake off any excess flour.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the wings in batches, frying until golden brown on both sides (about 5-6 minutes per side). Remove the wings and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the diced onion and sauté until softened (about 3-4 minutes). Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  • Pour in the chicken broth, heavy cream, and Worcestershire sauce, stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  • Return the fried chicken wings to the skillet, ensuring they are submerged in the sauce. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 25-30 minutes, until the wings are cooked through and tender.
  • Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  • Serve the smothered chicken wings hot, garnished with chopped green onions.
