Equipment

  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 parchment paper
  • 1 rolling pin
  • 1 small bowl
  • 1 brush for glaze

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry thawed
  • 2 large ripe pears sliced thinly
  • 8 oz Brie cheese sliced
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg beaten for egg wash
  • a pinch salt
  • optional powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a small bowl, mix honey, water, and vanilla extract. Set aside.
  • Lightly flour your workspace and unfold the thawed puff pastry sheets. Roll them out slightly to flatten.
  • Cut each pastry sheet into 6 equal strips (about 1.5 inches wide).
  • Take one strip of puff pastry and begin layering sliced pears on one side, overlapping them slightly. Place brie slices between the pear slices.
  • Fold the other side of the puff pastry strip over the filling to create a rose shape, ensuring the edges are sealed.
  • Place each rose in a muffin tin or directly on the baking sheet. Repeat until all strips are used.
  • Brush the tops of the pastry roses with the beaten egg to help them brown during baking.
  • Drizzle the honey mixture over each rose.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
  • Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and if desired, dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Ensure that the pears are ripe for easier slicing and better flavor.
You can add nuts such as chopped walnuts or pecans for a crunchy texture.
These pastries are best served warm but can also be enjoyed at room temperature.
