Ingredients
  

  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts About 1.5 lbs total.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Preferably Italian seasoned.
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • to taste olive oil or cooking spray For greasing.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Prepare the baking dish by lightly greasing it with olive oil or cooking spray.
  • Using a meat mallet or rolling pin, gently pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness, about ½ inch thick.
  • In a shallow bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  • Dip each chicken breast into the breadcrumb mixture, pressing down to ensure an even coating on both sides. Place the coated chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).
  • Remove the chicken from the oven and spoon marinara sauce over each piece. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  • Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve the chicken with a side of pasta or a green salad for a complete meal.
You can prepare the chicken in advance and store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking.
Feel free to substitute the marinara sauce with your favorite pasta sauce if desired.
