Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 measuring cups
  • 1 measuring spoons
  • 1 wooden spoon or spatula
  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 parchment paper or cooking spray
  • 1 clean kitchen towel

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1 ¾ cups warm water about 110°F or 43°C
  • extra tablespoons melted butter for brushing optional

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Add the melted butter and salt to the yeast mixture, then gradually add 3 cups of the flour. Mix using a wooden spoon or spatula until combined.
  • Slowly add the remaining flour, one cup at a time, until the dough starts to come together and is no longer sticky.
  • Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  • Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 20 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
  • Punch down the risen dough to release air. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces (about 2 oz each) and shape them into balls.
  • Arrange the dough balls on a parchment-lined or greased baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one. Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise for another 15 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 15 minutes or until they are golden brown on top.
  • Optional: Brush the tops with additional melted butter right after taking them out of the oven for extra flavor.
  • Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

For a variation, you can add herbs, cheese, or garlic to the dough for added flavor.
These rolls can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days or frozen for longer storage. Reheat in the oven before serving.
