  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon dried chilli flakes
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 225 g white rice
  • 500 g water
  • 1 chicken stock cube (or vegetable stock cube)
  • 120 g peas
  • ½ onion (diced)
  • ½ red pepper (diced)

  • Heat oil in a big pan over medium heat.
  • Toss in the diced onion and sauté until it goes translucent.
  • Stir in cumin, dried chilli flakes, turmeric, and paprika. Let it cook for a minute or two.
  • Add white rice and stir well so every grain gets coated with spices.
  • Pour in water and add the chicken stock cube. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cover the pot.
  • Let it simmer for 15 minutes on low heat.
  • After simmering, add peas and continue cooking for another 5 minutes.
