Instructions

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a 9-inch round cake pan, cause we finish the cake this way.
  • In a big bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, ground ginger, nutmeg, and allspice. This is your dry mix base.
  • Grab another bowl and cream the cold butter with 1 cup granulated sugar until it’s all light and fluffy. This part smells dang good already.
  • Beat in the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract to the butter mix. Stir till smooth and kinda thick.
  • Slowly add dry ingredients into that wet combo. Mix just until everything’s kinda blended and no one’s overworked here.
  • Peel, core, and slice the apples thin. Fold half of them into the batter gently, keeping nice chunks in there.
  • Pour the batter in the greased pan. Lay the other apple slices on top and sprinkle 2 tablespoons sugar all over those apples for a sweet crust.
  • Now, time to bake. Place that pan in the oven for about 30-35 minutes until a toothpick poked in comes out clean. Meanwhile, you can get started on the custard sauce right since they cook up nicely together.

Notes

Serve your Irish apple cake warm with silky vanilla custard sauce. Store properly for best taste.
