  • 1 lb ground beef or ½ lb sausage and ½ lb beef
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley flakes
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • crushed red pepper flakes to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup fresh basil leaves optional
  • spaghetti noodles for serving

  • Brown ground beef and sausage in a skillet over medium heat. Season with salt and pepper. Drain excess fat.
  • Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Transfer contents to pressure cooker. Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, seasoning, parsley, garlic, red pepper, Worcestershire, and sugar. Add water and stir.
  • Lock lid and set to high pressure for 10 minutes. Let natural release for 10 minutes after cooking.
  • Stir, taste, adjust seasoning if needed. Add basil if desired and serve hot over spaghetti.

Notes

Serve with fresh basil for extra flavor. Leftovers freeze well. Great for busy weeknights!
