- 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts About 1.5 lbs total.
- to taste salt
- to taste pepper
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley For garnish.
- as needed cooked pasta or rice Optional, for serving.
Season the chicken breasts generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for about 5-7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.
Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream slowly, mixing well. Allow the mixture to simmer for another 3-4 minutes.
Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese to the sauce, stirring continuously until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is creamy. Season with additional salt and pepper if needed.
Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning the creamy sauce over them to coat well. Let it cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving. Serve the chicken with cooked pasta or rice if desired.
For extra flavor, you can add Italian herbs such as basil or oregano in step 5.
You can substitute chicken breasts with thighs if preferred.
This dish pairs wonderfully with steamed vegetables or a side salad.
