Instructions

  • Season both sides of chicken breasts with salt and pepper generously.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken 5–6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Transfer to a plate and tent with foil.
  • Reduce heat to medium. Add 1 tablespoon butter and garlic to skillet; sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Deglaze pan with chicken stock or wine, scraping up browned bits. Simmer 2–3 minutes, stirring often.
  • Add remaining 3 tablespoons butter along with chopped sage, thyme, and rosemary. Cook 1–2 minutes until butter is melted and sauce gently thickens.
  • Return chicken to the skillet. Spoon sauce over top and simmer for 2 more minutes.
  • Serve warm straight from the skillet, with extra sauce spooned over each piece.
  • Optional: garnish with extra fresh herbs for a burst of flavor and color.

Notes

Serve with crusty bread or over mashed potatoes to soak up the delicious garlic herb butter sauce. Leftovers store well and are great for meal prep.
