Chinese Beef and BroccoliNagi Pressure Cooker Recipe
Faster than take out, healthier and tastier. This is a recipe from a Chinese restaurant! If using economical beef, consider tenderising it the Chinese way (“velveting”, simple, highly effective!)
2tablespooncornstarchhelps thicken that sauce just right

1tablespoonChinese cooking wineadds a nice zesty layer
⅛teaspoonChinese five spice powdera tiny sprinkle that rounds out flavors
1teaspoonsesame oiloptional, for a toasty aroma
⅛teaspoonblack pepperjust enough to give a little kick
2tablespoonoilfor browning the beef and stir-frying broccoli
12ozbeef filletchoose tender cuts or use own tenderizing trick
1garlic clovefinely chopped
1teaspoonfresh gingerfinely chopped
4-5cupsbroccoli floretsyou want them cooked but still snap-tender
1cupwaterto add the right broth depth inside the cooker

Mix your sauce. In a bowl, whisk cornstarch, water, sugar, both soy sauces, Chinese cooking wine, five spice powder, sesame oil if you’re using it, and black pepper.
Heat 1 tablespoon oil in your pressure cooker pot or a separate pan. Toss in sliced beef and cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned. Set beef aside.
Use the same pot, add remaining oil and toss in broccoli florets. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes till they get bright green colour.
Return beef to the pot, add chopped garlic and ginger, pour sauce over top, stir everything well.
Pour in 1 cup water for broth depth, lock lid in place, set pressure cooker to high for 8 minutes.
When time’s up, use quick release to let steam out fast so broccoli stays crisp.
Open lid carefully, stir, check sauce thickness, and sprinkle sesame seeds if desired.
