Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium head cabbage, chopped (about 4 cups)
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes, with juice
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup shredded cheese, optional (for topping)
  • as needed olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing for about 3-4 minutes until softened.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet, cooking until browned and fully cooked. Break the meat apart with a mixing spoon. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  • Stir in the chopped cabbage, diced tomatoes (with their juice), tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the cabbage wilts slightly.
  • Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish. Spread it evenly and cover with aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  • If desired, remove the foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or carrots for extra flavor and nutrition.
This dish reheats well, making it ideal for leftovers the next day.
Serve with some crusty bread or a side salad for a complete meal.
