It’s always fun to get ready for big events (weddings, birthdays etc.), but we also have to keep in mind the amount of mental, emotional and physical efforts these events place on us. Whether we can feel them or not. That’s why when we get back from them, it is important to clean up promptly and properly. Then in the morning, we can easily pamper our minds and bodies. So important for recharging those batteries from the previous day’s festivities.

Take A Bath/Shower
The first thing you are going to want to do is to pull some of those toxins from your skin and rejuvenate your muscles. If you have a face mask, this is the time you definitely wanna be putting it on while you run your bath. Put in some Epsom salts this helps relax tired and sore muscles. If you have them and want to get fancy you can add some nourishing skin oils or fresh/dried flowers for happiness/esthetics. Light some candles or set up your phone, tablet or laptop to play a fireplace.
The key is to get all of your senses to relax, as well as your body and mind. Once you feel ready, drain your tub and take a quick shower to get all of the excess flowers, oils and grime from your skin. I always take a quick rinse shower after having a bath. It also helps clean your tub.
If you only have a shower. That’s absolutely fine. What you wanna do is take a container or bowl (preferably not a breakable one) and put your Epsom salts in there. If you have dried flowers or oils you can mix them in thoroughly as well (my favourite for rejuvenation is anything eucalyptus) and then place the bowl out of the way on the shower floor. You will get the same sensory benefits as a bath.

Skincare
Once you’ve finished and rinsed off your bath, you wanna take care of your skin. Always. So, put on your favourite body moisturizer, and then go wash your face and hydrate it. I like to cleanse with my Grounded Sage Calendula and Cucumber Facial Cleanser (I’ve been using it for a few years now) and use my favourite oils during the day (Rosey Repair Facial Serum & Calendula Gentle Gel Hydrator). If you’re interested in checking out Grounded Sage, take the skin assessment and let me know your Floral Aura. Mines Orchid.
Mental Health
My favourite way to take care of my personal mental health is to sit and relax in my chair. I light a candle, turn on some comforting nature sounds and write. I am always looking for new journal prompts. Right now this is my favourite because it’s a nice long list. If writing is not your thing, try reading a good book. Something to make you think in silence. That’s always my top priority, we have such loud noise pollution in our ears every day all day. So being able to have some peace and quiet to start your day is super important. Feel free to add coffee, tea or even water into this routine. I for one, choose to drink my beverages afterwards as an extended morning routine.
A few notes on this recipe:
* You don’t have to do exactly as I do. That’s, not the point. The point is to show you how to be mindful and aware of your physical, mental and emotional health after events that have many potential stressors.
* My Favourite oils for morning baths are citrus and eucalyptus

Self-care and self-love are huge! I am still learning the importance of it and how to do it regularly, but when I take the time to take care of myself I am a happier person!
I couldn’t agree more Kendra! I think we are all forever learning the importance of self-care.
I love these tips! I love the suggestion of taking a bath with Epsom salts. Something so simple, yet it can make you feel so relaxed and pampered.
Epsom salts are my fav. I love the fact that you can customize them with essential oils for whatever you need!
Yes! Routines of self-care and pampering are so important! Thank you for sharing.
I could do a better job of taking care of my skin. Now that I’m in my 30s, I probably should be a little more conscious of my products
OHHH MAN!! I know those feels! It’s very difficult, but I’m trying LOL. Admittedly it is kind of fun too!
I love this, no one ever writes about the day AFTER valentine’s day. I definitely want to try the exfoliating mask!
It’s my absolute go-to! I adore it…and will need to get more soon LOL.
Great post, who doesn’t love or need some pampering.
I’m glad you had a successful Valentine’s Day. Great tips 🙂
