When I first started to THINK about making my own bread ANYTHING. I was absolutely floored at how easy and inexpensive it is. I always wondered, why you wouldn’t just buy it and make it super easy. One less thing to deal with right? Make someone else do the work, you reap the benefits. Honestly, that’s all well and good. I still LOVE making my own bread. I can’t help it, their is something about dough that is just so satisfying. Like playing with..well. Playdough as a kid. You can do almost ANYTHING. That’s what I love, because then it sparks my imagination. How can I change it? How can I make something so simple, even BETTER? That is why I make my own pizza dough. Simplicity is in the crust! So imagine a light, airy, almost flakey crust that gets beautifully golden brown.
The Goal of a Good Crust
The goal of a good crust is simple. It needs to be delicious. No, no, no…thats not all. Now, the crust needs to cook well, be nice and airy and have a nice “bounce” to it. This happens when you kneed the dough.Basically, what you are doing is creating layers and pockets that make it so light and airy.
