I think fries and chili have always been comforting food to everyone. Until recently though I didn’t know that chili fries weren’t a thing everywhere though. I gotta be honest that kind of shocked me. It’s an amazing combination and so deserving of each other.
Chili fries is my version of an all-encompassing Mood Food. I love eating it when I’m happy, sad, stressed out Etc. It’s just one of those meals that can be celebratory or comforting.
Most people will tell you you need this big huge chilli recipe to make good chilli fries. But you really don’t. It’s just one of those dishes that works like a chunky sauce. It’s not a side dish to the fries, it’s not the main dish. It’s basically an ingredient in and of itself.
This is one of those few meals but you don’t really want to meal prep. This is something you want to make when you want to eat it. I mean you can make the chilli or the lentil chilli ahead of time but you definitely don’t want to make fries ahead of time. It just doesn’t work very well.
A few notes on this recipe:
- You can easily omit or dial back how much chilli seasoning you use both on the fries and in the actual chilli itself.
- One thing I don’t show you in the video is mixing the seasoning in Thoroughly with your hands to the fries. This allows an even coat so that some fries aren’t completely coated and end up potentially burning.
